Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or  may be brackets bonded directly to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces and removable appliances slowly move teeth to the corrected position.  Treatment time will vary from patient to patient, but averages between 18-24 months.
